Ola's Update
We are BACK!!
It has been a long 5 months. The world is still standing still and moving forward all at the same time. Here at the 1033 project, we have taken a social media hiatus to focus our attention on the things that mean the most at times like this. The world is not great, or even better in many places, but it is time to share with you some stories.
As many of you know over these 5 months the country of Jordan has been under a form of military lockdown to combat the COVID-19 pandemic. I am happy to report all the ladies of the 1033 project and their families are doing well and are healthy. They each want to give you an update of what they have been going through since February.
This is Ola’s update.
“ We couldn’t go anywhere for weeks, not just because of the fear of getting sick but because of the government’s quarantine restrictions. My husband was out of work for 2 weeks and then they cut his salary. I had to be mom, wife, and teacher for my kids. We went without bread and common staples for a period of time, but the 1033 project staff brought us food to help us get through that difficult season. My husband did eventually go back to work but we lived in fear of him bringing back something that could hurt our family. The situation at home was weird, there was a lot of fighting because we were all together for so long and scared. But when I compare myself with others we are still so much better off than many of our neighbors. When the 1033 staff called and told us we could go to the sewing workshop and pick up new fabric and materials to work again from home I was so happy. To get out of the house was a refreshment to my soul. I want to thank everyone who is part of the 1033 project for investing in us and caring for us in these very difficult times. I pray God will bless you and bring you and your family health.”
